You wake one morning and it is gone, no longer churning and whirring and rumbling below the sheets. No need to go the bathroom, you realise, and as you stand from the bed your body feels light, half empty.

The larger brain guffaws in glee. We are alone now, it tells you. You search inside yourself for feelings on this development. The empty chamber where your gut used to sit echoes back at you.
